Professions

Different people have different skills. Some are good fighters, some are good hunters, some are good, well you know. There are many possibilities available.

Professions in War of Gods are represented by optional activities characters are able to perform. Some of them have prerequisites like skills or abilities, but most of them are free to use.

Cooking

Anyone who needs to survive for a while and provide a practical source of food for himself, learns to butcher corpses of killed animals. However, civilized beings do not eat raw meat from corpses. They prefer roasted, or smoked meat.

If you have a pan, you can set up a campfire and cook raw meat you have in your inventory.

The smoked meat is very tasty and also more nourishing.

Fishing

Wherever rivers and lakes exist, an abundant source of food exists also. These bodies of water are invariably teeming with fish and other aquatic life, all who sit nicely below most of us on the food chain. Of course, it is very difficult to go in and try to grab some of them by hand (admit it, we've all tried). In order to catch fish or other water creatures, one must apply certain tactics, honed over the years into an art form. Using nets, spears, and even poles with bait on them are many of the ways one can catch fish and other water creatures.

Mining

Almost all materials, that are used by smiths to produce armour and weapons, such as most metals and refined gems, are created from ore taken from the earth itself. This process is called mining.

Mining is hard and involved work, even sometimes it can be dangerous. To be able to start mining ore, first the suitable location must be located. Dwarves and gnomes and their darkie cousins as well are known for their exceptional mining skills and usually build their towns near such locations and dig mine tunnels all around in the nearby area.

Once you find a location containing valuable resources, you can start digging walls using a pick or similar tool and collect fragments of ore.

These small fragments of raw ore are not very useful and must be smelted to acquire large chunks of material.

Smelting

Those who work with metals, know that to produce quality work, they fashion their works out of single pieces of material.

The process which is used to acquire larger chunks of material from several smaller fragments of raw ore is called smelting.

Once an ore has been taken from the earth, it still must undergo refining in order to be able to be used. This purifies the ore. Then the material is smelted and metal bars are produced.

These bars are then used by smiths to produce all sorts of armours and weapons of exceptional quality.

The famous smelters can be found in Buthzak-Dum and also in Kuhkaduh.

Forging

Forge ability allows fighters with weaponsmith and armouring skills to forge various kinds of weapon or armour types respectively. To forge a weapon or an armor, you must first find a workshop with an anvil. Forging requires metal bars which are produced from ore in smeltery. Keep in mind that the quality of the equipment you produce depends heavily on the material used. So you should look around for the best you can get before going to smithy.

Forging armours and weapons takes a couple of minutes real time. The more difficult the armour, or the bigger the weapon, or the more complex the job, the longer it takes to forge. A fighter cannot fight during the time he/she wishes to forge an item. If he/she does so, the job is spoilt and stopped.

Weaponsmith Skill

With the weaponsmith skill, a character knows how to forge all kinds of weapons. A weaponsmith can also repair weapons that has taken damage, and even temper weapons to improve their durability. To forge or repair weapons, the character must first find a forge.

Armouring Skill

A character with this skill knows how to build all varieties of armor. With this skill the armorer knows enough blacksmithing to forge metal armor and craft scale and chain mail and knows enough leatherworking to cut and shape boiled leather into leather armor, shield coverings, and the under-layers of scale mail and chain mail.

An armorer can also repair armors and shields that has taken damage, and even temper armours to improve their durability. He can also craft barding (horse armor) through use of his proficiency. To forge or repair armours, the character must first find a forge.
