First Steps
In-game Help System
If you are new to the game, we recommend you take advantage of the in-game help system. If you have no idea how and where to start, read 'help newbie'.
To request general information from other players, use the 'newbie channel' (for information on all channels, see 'help channels'.
There is an automatic hints system available for newbies which gives you some basic information about the game play. To turn off the hints that are flashed on your screen, type 'hints'.
To turn off a channel, just type 'channel' followed by its name.
There are many help files on many subjects, it would be worth your time to read some of them. Particularly important ones are:

Hints for Newbies
A Newbie is someone of low level who is new to a mud.
A basic hint is to kill small animals, like rats, bees, birds, cats, dogs, and things like that. There usually exists some place called newbie area somewhere near of your starting place where similar monsters are situated in higher numbers.
Try to find 'donation room' - it is located somewhere in starting town or cave - useful equipment for newbies is lying on the ground there.
There is also day and night, so if you belong to whittie races (human, high-elf etc.) you should find a torch. Darkie players have several disadvantages on the sun.
Other hints are use WIMPY ! (type 'help wimpy') Don't try to kill monsters/NPCs with names like 'guard' or proper names, like Samantha, etc, because they are very likely to be HIGH levels (use command 'con' to consider if you have chance to kill such monster - type 'help consider').
Higher level players are there to help, so make sure you bother them!
Beware of any player in stars like *orc* or *human* - such player is your enemy and he or she will surely kill you !!
Newbies should read all newbie help files. First read 'help character' to get some info about your character and 'help food' to stay longer alive….. Then read 'help fight' to learn something about combat and 'help endgame' when you want to leave the mud. Topic 'help communication' gives you a deeper knowledge about how to communicate with other players and monsters all around you.
For magic-users is recommended to read 'help magic'. When you want to earn some money, read 'help trade' and instructions for usage of items could be find in 'help items'.
Tips for Newbies
At least read 'help tips' - there are most used trick from all topics above.
Here are some tips for you - what to do and some most often commands:
VERY IMPORTANT FOR NEWBIES ! War of Gods is role-playing/player-killing MUD, this means that you can be killed by other players !!! (read 'help pk')
Kill monsters through 'kill' command (works also with 'k') like mouses or bats to gain your first experiences and use 'con' to get a message about your chance against the chosen monster
Command 'flee' or 'f' is the best way to get away from fight on lower levels
Use 'north', 'south', 'east', 'west', 'northwest' etc. or 'n', 's', 'e', 'w', 'nw' rather to walk between places
Seek your guildmaster (fighter, cleric …) to learn some skills, abilities and spells
Use commands 'score', 'ss', 'attr' and 'savings' to display info about yourself
Use 'look' or 'l' to see description of a room where you are standing
Use 'inventory' or 'i' to see which items you own, but not items weared on you, this could be displayed with 'equip'
Use 'wield' to wield a weapon and 'wear' to equip an armour on you and 'remove' to remove an equipment. Use 'equip' to equip all your equipment and 'remove all' to remove all equipment.
Try to be satiated and soaked (look at attr to show your status); use 'drink' and 'eat' to consume some food or drink
Watch your HP (hit points), Mana (spell points) and FP (fatique points) because low status of each should be fatal (HP: 0 = DEATH, FP: 0 = no movement, no ability, Mana: 0 = no casting)
Buy and sell items at shops to get some money
Use 'rent' instead of 'quit' if you want to have your items when you log on next time (see 'help rent'), to do this, you have to find renting place Use 'offer' to get info how much it costs to be rented
Use 'shout', 'tell', 'say' to interact with other players (see 'help communication')
Use 'party' to group with your friends and better survive the fights - sure, it is much more safe than killing alone
Show a list of logged players from time to time through the command 'who'
Read help if you are in doubt about something
